Syed Ali Geelani on Saturday expressed his deep concern over the prevailing horrendous situations in state, saying that unabated state sponsored violence, arrests, intimidations and killings will further deteriorate the situation. Syed Ali Geelani as chairman of the Tehreek-e-Huriyat while speaking in executive council said that detainees despite bailed out by court are rearrested and repeatedly slapped with PSA to prolong their detention and added that pro-freedom leaders and activists, since long are languishing in state and outside state jails. The participants reviewed and discussed the prevailing grim situation in state and it was observed that Indian authorities instead of implementing a realistic and political approach for the resolution of issue, are following their obsessive dogma. Addressing the meeting Geelani said that harassing the leadership and people is aimed to silence them because they are supporting the cause of people of Jammu Kashmir and they have been kept behind the bars without any trial and that coercive and repressive measures won’t break our resolve and despite this will pursue the cherished mission. Referring to Kashmir issue, Geelani said that it is the world’s oldest unresolved issue, and added that it is bone of contention between India and Pakistan and a potential threat to peace in sub-continent. Blaming Indian authorities for prevailing bloodshed, Geelani said that it is their stubborn and haughty approach, that has turned the whole sub- continent into a slaughterhouse and despite their pressure tactics and haughty approach, they couldn’t break our resolve and people pursued the right to self-determination, added Geelani. India is not sincere in resolving the Kashmir issue, said Geelani and reiterated that in principal we are not against dialogue process but we favour only meaningful and result oriented negotiations. We have a clear agenda and our viewpoint is unambiguous that Kashmir issue can be resolved through dialogue, however the onus lies on India to illustrate its seriousness and sincerity, added Geelani. Conducive atmosphere for negotiations is prime necessity, said Geelani and added history stands witness, that India instead of acknowledging its historical perspective, as core and political issue, always treated it a law and order problem, added he. Dialogue is the only option, said Geelani but unfortunately, India has never assigned any political importance to this issue and while referring to groups led by Ram Jeth Malani, Padgawkar, Congress working group and their recommendations, Geelani asked about the outcome of their recommendations. Geelani called poll boycott for upcoming by elections to parliamentary segments and urged to follow the spirits as was illustrated by people during Srinagar and Budgam by-polls. Terming all pro-Indians leaders stooges, Geelani said that their sole mission is to strengthen the Indian occupation.
